Crossed massive hail storm yesterday

On the way back to my parents' home. My formerly smooth if firm Tipo is now a rattling, shaking Golf (ball). Guess I just can't catch a break...

My sympathies. My first wife and I purchased new an '87 Integra LS five-door (manual I might add). It was the pride of our fleet. Always kept a nice, thick car cover on it. I drove my Rabbit to work and the Integra was basically hers. The one day I decided to take the Integra to work, we had a massive hail storm move through the area. I had not put the car cover on it and I stood on a loading dock watching the car get pummeled by softball-size hail. I was fortunate that no windows were broken but there was not a body panel that did not have a sizable dent in it.

That's pretty much my situtation, save for the grille, which was ripped clean off the car. Now I need a new grille, and some bodywork, and also hunt down all the noises and considering the extensions of the storm, I'd probably check internals as well.

Close to the equator = warm weather, so shouldn't hail not happen because it's too warm? We need a weatherman.

Oh, but I'm not close at all to the equator. My state is well under the tropic of capricorn, we even get snow in the highlands here every now and then. Never too much snow, but I've seen a nice spread a few times in my life.

I can confirm it happens, I drove through one near Ribeirão Preto once, I was just as puzzled as you were.
